Tattoos and Life Changing Journeys

Back when I was in high school, even the most rebellious teens pretty much avoid altering their bodies. Tattoos and piercings were rare. It was simply a sign of the times.

Not so anymore. As I walk around the high school I see that even some of the more “conservative” students sport tats and multiple piercings. Nobody bats an eye.

And so, in these times of the common tattoo it stands to reason that Air New Zealand would jump on the bandwagon and take advantage of the trend. They have announced a particularly cool contest to promote the concept of life-changing journeys to New Zealand.

This month, Air New Zealand is holding an open casting call to select 30 adults to be shaved and tattooed with the express purpose of being “cranial billboards” in Los Angeles. Admit it. You think that rocks, don’t you?

Not that I expect him to show up at the casting call, but I’d love to see Donald Trump shaved and sporting a tattooed ad on the back of his head. He’s got marketing coursing through his veins and he is unnaturally attacked to that flopping swoosh of hair on his head. It would make a bold statement, to be sure.

Even without the publicity stunt, I’m intrigued by the Air New Zealand campaign. I love the idea of a life-changing journey. I’ve been on a life-changing journey of my own lately, but it’s not been a pleasant journey, My divorce changed my life in more way s than I can list and I love the idea of taking off on a trip to New Zealand to provide a positive experience to balance out the negative aspects of my recent “journey”.

Check out the contest info on www.airnewzealand.com. Maybe you have the head they need to get their life changing journey message out there to the rest of us.
