Consumable Gifts

I think I have mentioned before that I particularly like to give consumable gifts. I don’t like to think about the gifts I give sitting in someone’s closet or collecting dust on a shelf. I prefer to give flowers, food, grocery coupons, spa certificates, or even subscriptions for one of the wine clubs I like.

I think it all started the first time I had to buy gifts for everyone in my ex’s massive extended family. I had no idea what everyone liked and bought crystal vases and things like that. The following summer I saw one of the gifts sitting in its box in one of the family member’s garages. I felt like I had wasted my money in a big way. So, I started the next year with fruit baskets. One year I gave hand made candles and soaps. If you can use it up, it’s a gift I think is worth giving.
