The Adrenaline of Fear

Do you ever do things to scare yourself purpose? Undeniably, there is a massive rush of adrenaline that comes along wit being frightened. I think that’s why we seek out things like roller coasters, a particularly frightful horror movie, or other thrilling activities. We want that rush, that absolute sense of teetering on the edge. Seeking out thrills and frights makes us feel that much more connected with life and our inner being.

I’m up to my ears in Disney movies and Princess themed stores. When I go to a movie with friends or on my own, I have noticed that I tend to go for the tense, gritty stuff. I watched the trailer for the new movie Frontier(s) for the first time a little over a week ago and it had me literally clutching at the seat of my computer chair with my fingernails digging at the fabric.

The movie is one of those films that surfs the very edge of socially acceptable. In fact, the movie would have had to be cut down quite a bit just to earn an R rating, so the movie’s maker’s decided to leave it intact and released it to a limited number of theaters in its unrated version on May 9. They immediately followed up the theatrical release with the DVD on May 13. I suppose they could have just gone the typical route and just put it to DVD, but by going to theaters as well, they have given true horror movie buffs the chance to see it on the big screen.
