From Webkinz to Backyard Safety
My daughter loves Webkinz. She has a lil Unicorn and a Pink Poodle and a Yorkie (although I think it is a Maltese). I set up an account for myself and bought the lil Pink Poodle. That way I can send my daughter mail and gifts. It gives her some safe interaction on the site.
Since I generally spend any KinzCash I earn on things for my daughter, my little character’s house is pretty spare. I do keep a garden and have a pretty little yard, though. I splurged and bought a mini trampoline for the virtual yard, so my daughter and nephew can have their characters visit and jump on it while they are there.
The trampoline brought up the issue of getting a real one for our real backyard. I think a mini trampoline would be a lot of fun, great for exercise too. However, if I were to get a full-sized trampoline I would want to have safety nets. I have friends who had to deal with sticky situations when neighborhood kids hurt themselves while playing on the trampoline.
I’m not sure how I got from WebKinz to backyard safety, but now I am thinking about the liability involved in having our yard unfenced and allowing the neighbor kids to play out back. Lots to ponder….
