Happy St. Patrick’s Day

I’m not Irish, not do I pretend to be on days like today. Nonetheless, I have a fair amount of appreciation for Irish culture, especially since a lot of the music and dance traveled with immigrants in the 1800s and landed in West Virginia, where it took root and morphed into Appalachian tradition.

I did not send my daughter to school in green, but I did point out to her that if anyone tries to pinch her, she has permission to fight back. I loathe that stupid pinching tradition.
