Mom Review: Inspector Hector and Teeth

My daughter has always hated brushing her teeth. We have momentary victories, most of them based on adding a fun element to her routine, She has Princess toothbrushes, pink toothpaste, little Princess flossers and a pink hourglass timer that tells her how long to brush.

The best tool I have found, though, is a pair or products by Inspector Hector. First we use the Secret Blue Bubble Gum Plaque Detector. My daughter swishes a pre-measured portion in her mouth for about 30 seconds, spits into the sink, and when she looks in the mirror she can see blue color on all the plaque. That helps her know where to brush especially well.

Then, after a thorough brushing she uses Top Secret Bubble Gum Tooth Protector, which is a tasty, pink anti-cavity rinse. Both products are alcohol free and mild tasting. You can find the products at Wal Mart and they are under $3 a bottle.

I checked out the Inspector-Hector.com website and there are some fun games your children can play, like Attack the Plaque. There is also info on free screening events and a message board for parents. The product is pretty new, so there is not much activity of the forum yet, but it looks like a potentially great resource.

By the way, nobody asked me to review this product. My daughter and I just really thought it was cool!
