Writing for Pleasure

Well, today I woke up and just felt like writing, so I have been blogging and journaling and working on some short stories. There are days I can barely strong two words together, but I see days like today as an indicator of a good mood. I love to write. I have always loved to write. I was a talented writer in school and often praised by teachers. In high school I even had a paid writing gig with a local paper in the Washington, DC area.

When I started working, I had to write for a living and nothing dries up your creativity like having to write in order to earn a paycheck. I got to the point where I was all tapped out. I stopped writing for pleasure. I have been home with my daughter for the past several years and I am just now getting back to where I write for the sake of writing. There is nothing more beautiful than the crafting of language to express emotions and life experiences. Writing for pleasure can be therapeutic. And, the advent of the internet and the popularity of blogs is a wonderful thing, because more and more people are being urged to just sit down and write their thoughts for others to read. We are expressing ourselves more than ever. People feel like they have a voice in the world and that is a fantastic thing.

Ooops. Just as I got on a roll here, I have to cut things short. I just found some exercise equipment on Freecycle and need to go pick it up in the north end of the county.
