Speaking of parties, I have an uncle retiring next month. There is a big party being panned for him. When my own dad retired, he just put in his last day, cleared out his desk and then told all of us he had retired. It was odd, but he had not wanted us to make a big deal out of it. I am pretty sure some of his own coworkers did not know he was retiring until he walked out the door that last day. Leave it to the federal government to allow him to keep something like that a secret.

Anyway, my uncle and his party, that was what I was talking about. What in the world do you get someone who is retiring? Thankfully, one of my cousins has picked out a festool and asked several of us to just chip in on the price. It’s a tool my uncle can use in his post-retirement days around the house, for his hobbies, and whatnot. I have no idea. If left o my own devices, I might have just bought him a funny t-shirt. Oh well.
