Fight for Your Family

It’s that time of year again. I’ve got a best friend from college who comes down to Bal Harbour every summer and stays in a condo hotel ( a sort of hybrid residence and rental thing) and I always make plans to get over to see them for a long weekend. This time around the weekend they will be in the state falls on a weekend when my daughter is with her father. So, I have to decide if it is worth it to try and get him to wiggle weekends around. We are already doing it this month due to Gigi’s birthday, so it might just aggravate him to have me come at him with the idea right now.

The thing is, my friends have two daughters who are on either side of Gigi when it comes to age and it seems silly for me to go see them on my own. Do you see my dilemma. I thin kI am just going to bite the bullet and instigate the conversation.

It bugs me that my life involves a situation that means every little move I make need meticulous planning. I cannot move out of state. I have to mention if I vacation out of state. I have to worry if my ex is going to rock the boat at my daughter’s school. Oh, now there is a whole other blog entry. Yesterday he sent a note to my daughter’s teacher that had her so frightened that she referred the letter to the administrator who called me to say that if my ex was going to continue his behavior we might have to take Gigi out of the school. I am still boiling mad over that one!

People, if you are contemplating divorce and you have children, do ANYTHING you can to see if you can head that off. Work hard on your marriage. Divorce is never a good place for a kid to be and although I was unable to fight my situation due to the laws in my state, many of you can fight for your family.
