Winter Beaches

This afternoon my friend, Rebecca, and I went out to the beach to have lunch at one of the popular seaside restaurants. We followed it up with a walk along the Gulf of Mexico. The Florida beaches might not be fit for swimming when the weather gets chilly in January, but it sure is pretty. It was just right for a light jacket. I had on sandals and Capri length pants, and I was not too cold. Of course, I stayed out of the water.

I really need to take advantage of how close I live to the beach more often throughout the year. I only make it to the coast about once a month and I’m all of a few miles away. Sometimes we coastal Floridians even forget how close we actually live to the beach, instead leaving the beaches to the tourists.

I am not tempted to thinking about living on the shore in the hot summer, but these lovely winter days make me feel like having a house on the beach would be cozy and romantic.
