Women Protecting Women
Women talk. You know they do. You can be washing your hands at the sink in a public restroom next to another woman and both leave knowing about the other’s childbirth stories or sinus infections. In local communities, women tend to disseminate information about men that should be avoided at all costs. If you are a cheater or you hit women, feel certain that one women will tell two friends and so on until your local reputation is secured.
I love so much about the internet. I love the shopping, the instant access to news, and the way I can find any recipe that comes to mind within minutes – even in the dead of night. Best of all, though, is the way communities form online. People from all over the world come together in virtual communities based on common interests or causes.
Women talk. Let’s come back to that. A very cool thing about the online community is when women are able to bring local information to a global level on sites like Woman Savers, which is a date screening site and all around support community for women and by women. The goal is to get the word out about the men who have cheated on us, physically or mentally abused us, or treated us poorly in relationships. The end result is that perhaps we can save the next woman from a similar fate. It’s all about safer dating.
Woman Savers offers more than just the screenings. There are relationship polls, infidelity support, forums where you can talk to counselors about health and abuse issues. There is free information from doctors and therapists. Most of all, it’s a place for women to come together in one place and find understanding and support.
Of course, for those of us who have encountered the good men out there, you can let the world know about them too. Give them a good review and a leg up in the dating world. They deserve it. ![]()
