Inexplicable Printer Issues
I never did set up my Lexmark printer when I moved back in August. Last night, though, I need to print off a contract to sign, scan and send back to someone. So, I plugged in my printer and hooked the baby up to the new USB hub. I sent the print job and it seemed to go just fine, but the pages came out of the printer without any ink. I switched the printer to a USB port right in the back of the PC and got the same thing. My computer gave me some cryptic message about a bad USB device.
Pffft. I only paid about $30 for the printer. The only thing holding me back from just pitching it and buying a new one is that the ink cartridges are pretty much full and they were not cheap, since I buy the high yield versions. Sometimes it seems like you need to take out a payday loan just to keep yourself in ink. Wal-Mart actually has a Lexmark all-in-one printer for $27.88, plus $0.97 shipping. I just have to justify ditching these cartridges.
I don’t print much anymore. I tend to send my photos to a lab to be printed. I don’t have school assignments anymore. And, most of the freelance art I do is given to my clients via PDF file. I suppose once I start teaching, I will want to surely have a working printer, but until then I might just forego.
